We've now waited for weeks for anything from your side. You asked one user to open a ticket (with aforementioned delay of asking permission to email him) but are leaving all others hanging on the utter lack of feedback. Just google white globe popup or Avira globe. There are many, many internet pages showing this problem. I see in above emails you are spending days waiting for permission to email someone that is literally asking for help. I am hours away from telling my clients to switch to another antivirus as this is NOT getting the attention it needs from Avira. Killing the process or rebooting makes it go away, at least for a while, but it usually returns a few days later. I can name at least 10 of my clients where this is happening. When you find a way to advertise that doesn't interfere with people using their computers THEN maybe re-enable the ads. Kill all advertisements and push an update to temporarily patch avira to NOT run ads. Only, the advertising is malfunctioning in a way that is rendering computers useless, as you can't get rid of the advertising screen that overlays whatever you are working on at the time. Seeing that it's popping up on top of everything, I'm betting it is some kind of advertising, pushing the purchase of Avira products. still searching for a solution that was posted by Gymclass Hero a week ago? Avira itself seems to run fine without the specific task called Avira.Spotlight* (something) I finally had to post the image to yahoo answers.and somebody responded that it was a problem with avira. I ran the image through tineye, with no luck. I had the same problem starting months ago. Please, post the source code and we'll take a look. The asterisk is a wildcard that means anything can come after it. The parameter /F means force close and /FI means filter where the name equals Avira.Spotlight*. When you double click on your new program it will use the Windows command "task kill" to end any processes that start with "Avira.Spotlight". Taskkill /F /FI "IMAGENAME eq Avira.Spotlight*" Paste in the following command and save the file. Right click on the file and click "Edit" and it should open in notepad. If you've renamed it successfully then the icon will change to a picture of two gears. If you don't see the file extensions then you'll have to turn them on. To make the script create a text file on your desktop and rename it "Kill Spotlight.bat". She was so ecstatic the first time she used it that I begin to reconsider the mental toll that this has had on her. Since the task manager is difficult for her to use and I'm not always available to help her I created a script that will close all the Avira Spotlight processes when she double clicks on it. It covers her writing and is endlessly distressing. We've also been suffering this problem for about two months now on multiple computers and I've learned that my mom works with this in the corner of her screen every day.
